" I love the story of the Lasswade kelpie! It's a story of empowerment and liberation."
- Sharon McMenemy Khan

From mischievous foals to living landmarks, the Kelpies transport us like eddies in time to a different age.
Rising up in the central valley of Scotland, the Kelpies appear like steel sentinels. In NY, scaling the skyline they surface ethereally against the shining glass and steel of the skyscrapers.
They represent the clash between nature and development.
The Charlotte Dundas steamboat replaced the Clydesdale horses the Kelpies are based on: horse power for steam power. In NY, the Kelpies stood in Bryant Park, the New York Public behind them, symbolically bridging the gap between work and knowledge.
Are they still spiritual warnings about the dangers of the deep or are they symbols of the environmental crisis we face today?

the kelpies cup...
Before the kelpies layed hold to the skyline, Canera, a 19ft Clydesdale captured the heart of the people of Falkirk, pulling a Barr's soda cart, delivering Scotland's favourite bru around toun in the 30's.
Canera's history inspired us, me and the head bartender at the Balmoral as we worked on telling our tall tale of the kelpies foals and their sires in Falkirk in our original cocktail.

"Alison @pyschomoda has been a great supporter of my work since I opened the gallery. I really enjoyed the collaboration that created the fantastic Kelpies Couture!
On the night, I was blown away to see Daniella walk the dress. I had only seen the first cuts and pinning. This fashion and photo collaboration is one of my highlights of 2025."
