The Food Awards Scotland 2026 took place on August 17 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow Central, and it was a very good night for Edinburgh. Hosted by sports presenter David Tanner, the 12th annual ceremony celebrated the best of Scotland's food, drink, and hospitality — and the capital walked away with more than its fair share of silverware.

Here's what you need to know, and why it matters if you host in Edinburgh.

Edinburgh's Winners

  • Best World Cuisine — Winner: Uwagboe's Kitchen & Grill

Edinburgh took the top spot in this category, beating out Glasgow's Mosob Bar & Restaurant and Massawa.

  • Best Vegetarian/Vegan Restaurant — Winner: Sora Diana Vegan Restaurant

Edinburgh swept this category. Sora Diana took the win, with Soul Vegan (Edinburgh) recognised for excellence and Sylvan (Glasgow) for outstanding achievement.

  • Street Food Restaurant of the Year — Winner: Tuk Tuk Indian Street Food

Another Edinburgh win. Kuzina Greek Street Food and Nixos Greek Street Food, both Edinburgh, were also recognised.

  • Outstanding Restaurant of the Year — Recognised for Excellence: The Piper's Rest

Edinburgh's Piper's Rest was recognised in this category, won by Luca's Bar & Restaurant in Millport.

  • Restaurant of the Year — Outstanding Achievement: NeighbourWood

NeighbourWood in Edinburgh received outstanding achievement in the flagship category. The overall winner was Round Island Café Bar on the Isle of Cumbrae.

  • Best Pizza Restaurant — Recognised for Excellence & Outstanding Achievement: Pizzeria 1926 and Matto Pizza

Both Edinburgh establishments were recognised, with Nat A' Napoli in Balerno taking the win.

  1. Best Asian Restaurant — Outstanding Achievement: CrispyQ Asian Kitchen

Edinburgh's CrispyQ was recognised, with La Dragon in Kilmarnock taking the win.

  1. Deli of the Year — Outstanding Achievement: Croccante & Co

Edinburgh's Croccante & Co received outstanding achievement in this category.

In total, 17 Edinburgh and Lothians restaurants were celebrated at the ceremony. That's a serious concentration of talent for one city.

What This Means for Edinburgh Hosts

When your guests ask "where should we eat?" — and they always ask — you now have an award-validated answer. Here's how to use it:

  1. Stock your welcome guide with winners. Uwagboe's Kitchen & Grill for world cuisine. Sora Diana for plant-based guests. Tuk Tuk for a quick, brilliant street food lunch. The Piper's Rest for a solid dinner in the city centre.

  2. The vegan angle is huge. Edinburgh swept the vegetarian/vegan category. If you host plant-based guests — and increasingly, you will — you can point them to a city that genuinely leads on this.

  3. Street food is a selling point. Tuk Tuk winning Street Food Restaurant of the Year means your guests don't need a fancy dinner to eat well. That's a great line for budget-conscious travellers.

  4. Mention the Lothians. Tyneside Tavern and Mazzoli in Haddington won Best Italian. Nat A' Napoli in Balerno won Best Pizza. These are day-trip distance from Edinburgh and give your guests a reason to explore beyond the city.

  5. Use it in your listing. "Edinburgh — home to Scotland's Best World Cuisine, Best Vegan Restaurant, and Best Street Food (Food Awards Scotland 2026)." That's a line that belongs in your Airbnb description.

Scotland's food scene is having a moment, and Edinburgh is at the centre of it. Your guests want to taste it. Make sure they know where to go.
